Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Trust, Inc., presents a special free event for its African American Heritage Celebration. Keynote speaker, former University of Pittsburgh Vice-Chancellor, Robert Hill will focus on the experiences Black service members faced during World War I, how they persevered, and the impact their actions had on and off the field.
Particular attention is given to the 351st Field Artillery Regiment. The unit, comprised mostly of Pittsburghers, was formed after members spoke out regarding the Army's racially restrictive policies.
Join us for light refreshments which will be served starting at noon while supplies last.
