      Handling submissions of writing assignments can be challenging. Instructors struggle with knowing how much time to budget for reading and reviewing, whether to have students’ peers offer feedback, and how to assess students’ application of critiques. In this workshop, participants will identify specific characteristics of an effective feedback on written work, review submission options and consider different approaches to assessment.  Objectives: By the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to…  • Identify characteristics of effective feedback on writing assignments • Design an assessment plan that addresses basic concerns and needs • Construct assessment with grading and summative evaluation in mind   Please note: This workshop does not cover assignment design. Participants who are interested in crafting assignments that meet their course needs should register for Writing Assignments: Objectives and Design.   This workshop may be counted toward the Pedagogy concentration of the Achievement in Pedagogy badge, offered through the Graduate Student Teaching Initiative.
