      Come aboard to learn how 80 men used their expertise, humor and sheer ingenuity to carve out a rough and adventurous life during USS Requin's (SS 481) lengthy defense and scientific missions, some of which are still classified to this day! State-of-the-art and battle ready when she set out just days before the end of World War II, Requin holds the distinction of being the Navy's first Radar Picket submarine.

      Go beneath the surface of submarine life with Living History aboard Requin. Carnegie Science Center has partnered with Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) to add high-tech interactive experiences to the historic submarine. It's the first-ever use of interactive technology such as this aboard a historic ship.

      Sept. 3, 2019–Jan. 1, 2020 Wednesday–Monday: 10 am–4:30 pm (weather and river conditions permitting) Tuesdays: Closed, except for Dec. 31

      USS Requin will be closed for the winter Thursday, Jan. 2–Monday, March 2.
